How to repair corrupt files in Windows Vista

Computer Troubleshooting

Some files in windows vista have an error by corrupt system instabilities, to solve this problem Windows Vista provide “System File Checker” application.
There are 2 types of scan to check the files:
1. verification scan : Only check the files without repairing the error
2. scan/repair mode : This type of scan will fix any error it finds.

Follow the instruction below to scan the files:

1. Press Windows Key +R and type “ cmd


2. Type the following command (depend on the type of scan you wish to perform) :
sfc /verifyonly -> To verify any corrupt files only.
sfc /scannow -> To verify and fix any corrupt files.

This will then start the scan and inform you of any files that require fixing:
