My friend which is using Windows Vista ever ask me that he has a problem when accessing / transfer data via Windows network, he has experiences slow network transfer speed. Most noticeable when copying files across networks that take much longer than before, for some case some time its make computer hang.
Below is some suggestions that may help you if having the same experience slow network performance:
1. Check your network adapter, try to re-install the network adapter or download the latest drivers for your network adapter from the manufacturers site Then, check if it is working properly viewing the device manager settings.
2. Install the latest Windows Update patches, including Vista SP1.
3. If you using Antivirus software check the Firewall configuration, some time use the 3rd Party softeware its include the firewall, be sure that it is configured correctly. When you check the problem its better to turn off the Firewall to find out if the problem is from Firewall or Antivirus.
4. Try to uninstall blue tooth driver or other wireless device driver. If you found this is the problem , try to get the latest driver.
5. Try disabling Remote Differential Compression by clicking Start > Control Panel > Programs > Programs and Features. Then click Turn Windows features on and off, untick Remote Differential Compression and click OK:
6. Try to disable network Auto-Tuning.
