Registry editing has been disabled by administrator

Windows Registry

The Windows registry is a directory which stores settings and options for the operating system for Microsoft Windows in other word registry is just like database in windows which is contain application and configuration windows system.

Now days, a lot of virus or worm attack windows system by disabled Registry Editor (RegEdit). Why virus or worm disabled registry editor? Yeah..because virus maker will put their configuration in Windows registry.
When registry editor disable, you will get a warning message:



How to remove the restriction on Registry Editor? Follow the steps below:
For user using Windows XP Professional, Windows Vista Ultimate, Windows Server 2003 or 2008 with Local Group Policy Editor and has access to an administrative user account, user can change the registry editor options in the Local Group Policy Editor.

1. Click on Start -> Run (or Start Search in Windows Vista).

2. Type GPEdit.msc and then press Enter.

3. Navigate to the following location: User Configuration -> Administrative Templates -> System



4. In the Settings pane, locate the Prevent access to registry editing tools option, and then double-click on it to open the settings dialog.



Select Disabled or Not Configured.

5. Click on OK button.

Try to run RegEdit.exe, and if required (still blocking yet), restart the computer
