Blogger TipsA site map (or sitemap) is a list of pages of a web site accessible to crawlers or users. It can be either a document in any form used as a planning tool for web design, or a web page that lists the pages on a web site, typically organized in hierarchical fashion. This helps visitors and search engine bots find pages on the site. And being a webmaster/blogger you must have a sitemap, as it's a search engine optimization tool, that helps you to get more traffic through the search engines like Google and Yahoo.
If you are using Wordpress there is plug in to help you to add SiteMap but For Blogger users (Blogspot), adding sitemap to your blog may not be easy. Blogger does have a built-in tool that can help you add your sitemap (If now Blogger generates a "robots.txt" file for every blog automatically I still prefer to use manual step to add the sitemap, why? perhaps I will explain about this in the next post .. :=)
Ok, To add SiteMap to Blogger Follow the step below:
1. Login to Google Webmaster Tools website
2. In the Dashboard page, type your blog's url

Note: in my experience I am fail when adding the url with gokhiel.com and its working fine when I add the site using www.gokhiel.com
3. Now you have to verify that you own that blog, so click on Verify your site, and select the "Add a Meta Tag" option.
Then copy the meta tag into your blog's "Edit HTML" section of "Layout" tab,
Paste the code directly below <head> and save the template.

4. Then click on "Verify" at the bottom (in Google Webmaster account).
5. Now click on Sitemaps link present at left side. Then click on "Add a Sitemap"

6. Then in the Box of "My Sitemap" , type this:
atom.xml?redirect=false&start-index=1&max-results=500 (If you have up to 500 posts)
And if you have more than 500 articles or posts, then you have to add more sitemaps, after you have already added the previous one, like these:
atom.xml?redirect=false&start-index=501&max-results=500
or similarly next:
atom.xml?redirect=false&start-index=1001&max-results=500

Done, Now Google will put you on pending status and you can check your account again after a few minute or hours
